A 47-year-old man has appeared before the High Court in Dublin, facing charges connected to the murder of Robbie Lawlor. The incident, which occurred in April 2020, saw Lawlor fatally shot outside a residence.
Jonathan Gill, whose address is listed as Malahide Road, Clontarf, was present at a High Court session held in Dublin on Friday. Lawlor, understood to have been involved in organized crime within the Republic of Ireland, was shot and killed on Etna Drive in Ardoyne on April 4, 2020.
During the court proceedings, it was stated that Mr. Gill was apprehended by GardaĆ, the Irish police force, on Thursday morning. Detective Sergeant Franke Lambe, affiliated with the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, detailed the arrest. Lambe met Gill at his residence and presented him with a warrant for his apprehension, which had been authorized by the High Court the preceding day. Following his arrest, Gill was transported to Clontarf Garda Station.
Lambe reported that Gill was questioned about his knowledge of the offenses; he responded that he was unaware of their nature. Judge Barry O’Donnell informed Gill of his entitlement to seek professional legal counsel in both relevant jurisdictions or to agree to his extradition to the United Kingdom. When asked if he comprehended his rights, Gill confirmed, “Yes.”
Gill has been remanded in custody and is being held at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 21.
