Senegalese authorities have apprehended 14 individuals, dismantling what they describe as a paedophile ring with operational ties extending to France. The arrested parties, all Senegalese nationals, are implicated as members of an organized criminal enterprise active since 2017.
The group faces accusations encompassing organised paedophilia, pimping, the sexual abuse of minors under the age of 15, sodomy, and the deliberate transmission of HIV/Aids. Reports indicate a pattern of compelling young boys into unprotected sexual encounters with men, predominantly HIV-positive, and illicitly recording these acts.
Specifically, four of the detained individuals reportedly acted under the direction of a French national. This Frenchman was taken into custody in France in April 2025, with financial remuneration cited as the motive for these instructions.
Following searches conducted across multiple districts in Dakar and the southeastern city of Kaolack, located roughly 200 kilometers from the capital, the 14 accused were presented to a judge on Friday. Police confirmed the execution of coordinated raids on the residences of the suspects, leading to the confiscation of items believed to be connected to the alleged criminal activities.
The Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) orchestrated what was termed a significant operation, effectively dismantling a transnational organised criminal group whose primary bases of operation are situated between France and Senegal. This successful intervention underscores the challenges posed by cross-border criminal networks.
The police statement highlighted that the operation was facilitated through collaborative efforts between Senegalese and French law enforcement agencies. A delegation of French officers participated directly in the mission, signalling a strong international partnership in combating such offences.
Authorities have committed to ongoing efforts to pursue and dismantle similar criminal networks, encouraging public participation by providing a toll-free number for individuals to report any pertinent information that could aid their investigations.
